Earlier this week, the Oscar de la Renta store in South Coast Plaza shared its 2016 pre-fall and fall collection with its guests. Clients who attended the trunk show event were afforded the opportunity to pre-order from the two collections. While quantities were limited, special orders for pieces up to size 16 were also being accepted as long as one can afford to wait until November for the merchandise. The store’s expert tailor was on hand to measure and insure that the right size is ordered, that alterations could be done to the piece once it is received to fit the client, and that request for extra material is made should alterations require it.
The store’s usually open space was flooded with racks of beautifully constructed gowns, skirts, tops and coats.
As I ran my fingers through the pieces, taking care to give each one my full attention, I couldn’t help but notice how floral patterns seemed to be the prevailing theme throughout the collection. Solid color pieces aside, from the inset lace panels to the embroidered embellishments, floral details ran consistently throughout from subtle hints to bold statement patterns. Though consistent with colors we often identify with autumn, colors ranged very broadly from pink to burgundy, sky blue to navy, and dark orange to bright red. Of course, don’t forget the classic black and white pieces that you simply can’t go wrong with. In true Oscar fashion, the collections did not disappoint.
Some of my personal favorites after visiting the trunk show included the following:
My special thanks to Claudia Macias of Oscar de la Renta – South Coast Plaza for her assistance during the trunk show.
